Prof Serges Kamga
Senior Associate
Serges Djoyou Kamga is a full Professor of Human Rights law currently working at the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs (TMS), University of South Africa (UNISA). Over the past 15 Years Prof Kamga’s work focused on development and human rights, disability rights and gender justice.
For many years and from various platforms including through the Young African Leadership Initiative programme which a partnership between the USA Government and UNISA, Serges has gained extensive experience in developing curriculum for leadership training, trained young leaders to establish and run civil society organisations successfully. His experience includes training young leaders in the SADC region. Under the auspices of the African Union, he also trained disabled people organisations as well senior government officials on advancing disability rights in Africa.
Prof Kamga sits on various boards and committees in Africa and beyond. As an academic, he is the author/editor/co-editor of 10 books and 70 articles/book chapters all dealing with issues of development and well-being in Africa. He has received several accolades, including the recently awarded 2021 Ali Mazrui Award for scholarship & Research excellence given by the University of Texas at Austin.
